Postpartum
Support
You've given birth to your baby, you're home from the hospital and it's 3 in the morning and your baby just will. not. stop. crying! You're feeling at your wit's end and then you remember the words POSTPARTUM DOULA. Those words just sound heavenly in this moment.
But what exactly does a postpartum doula do? The way Jayme describes it is this, "Whatever the parents need me to do, then that's what I'm there for. Whether it be to help with breastfeeding, watch baby so mama can shower and nap, or play with the older sibling so they don't feel left out." Along with physical support, she also offers emotional and educational support. Babies don't come with manuals so that is where your postpartum doula can come in to help. Your doula can help you learn how to swaddle your baby, bathe your baby, and she can teach you how to read baby's feeding cues.
As your doula in this postpartum time, she will provide education and support where it is needed.
A daytime postpartum shift is typically 2-4 hours and overnight shifts are 6-8 hours in length. What is needed and wanted each time simply depends on the needs of the parents.
Jayme is here to provide you with the village you may not have or add to the immense support you're already getting.
